Comparison of MRI with Distal Colostogram in Patients with Anorectal Malformations- A Cohort Study

Introduction: Anorectal Malformations (ARMs) are the second most common paediatric surgical emergencies with management strategy is restoration of near normal anatomy and physiology which require accurate proper imaging diagnosis. Aim: To evaluate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) findings its comparison Distal Colostogram (DC) against in anorectal malformation patients. Materials Methods: A cohort study was done at two centers Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh (JNMC, Aligarh) Vardhman Mahavir College (VMMC) Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi involving 60 patients ARMs. MRI all distal colostogram 46 (74.4%) All were evaluated for associated anomalies. Both modalities compared type ARM fistula Chi-square Fisher’s test used to calculate statistical significance. Results: Out total included this study, there 37 (61.7%) males 23 females (38.3%). High seen 34 (56.7%) low 26 (43.3%). There no significant difference between differentiating (p-value 0.13). Spinal anomalies (52.5%) anomalies, followed by genitourinary (47.5%) musculoskeletal (32.5%). Conclusion: From results present found DC regarding ARM.
